Design

Like the Mini 5101 and 5102 before it, Sony VGP-BPS13A/B Battery the 5103 very much looks and feels like a shrunken HP ProBook, which is a compliment. HP hasn't changed the outer design much for this generation, which is mostly a good thing (with the exception of the touchpad). Heat

Like its predecessors, the 5103 stayed fairly cool during use, though we noted that the areas around the vent and on the bottom right got a bit hot Dell Latitude E6400 Battery with the system in our lap. Keyboard and Touchpad

The island-style, spill-resistant keyboard on the Mini 5103 remains one of the best in the netbook category. Still, the dedicated left and right mouse buttons, which received a soft rubberized treatment, responded well.

Display and Audio

Colors on the Mini 5103's glossy HD display are vibrant and the blacks are deep, though we were disappointed to find that both vertical Toshiba PA3465U-1BRS Battery and horizontal viewing angles aren't very wide. But when watching video, colors look distorted unless you're in the Goldilocks zone. The speakers on the 5103's front lip produced decent volume and offered good audio quality for a netbook. Treble came off tinny as we listened to Sarah Solovay's "Gone," but at least bass proved strong when Last.fm offered up Superchick's "One Girl Revolution (Battle Mix)." At 50 percent volume we were able to hear music clearly, but in order to hear Hulu clips clearly battery we had to turn it up batteries to 75 percent. Mindestens 8.192 MB DDR3-1066MHz Dual Channel Memory stehen dem Prozessor bei der Arbeit zur VGP-BPS13A/B Seite. Eine Erweiterung ist auf bis zu 16.384 MB möglich. Damit der Speicherplatz auf der Festplatte nicht so akku sony VGP-BPS9/B schnell ausgeht, können im G73Jh – auf zwei Platten verteilt – bis zu ein TB Daten abgelegt werden. Die Gamer-Notebooks sind mit sechs GB Arbeitsspeicher (DDR2-RAM) ausgestattet und lassen sich auf maximal akku hp nx7300 acht GB aufrüsten. Modellabhängig kommen Festplatten mit einer Kapazität von 320 und 500 GB zum Einsatz, die jeweils paarweise verbaut werden. Flexible Leistung

Im Budget-Modell setzt ASUS im K52 einen Intel VGP-BPS2 Pentium Dual Core P6000-Prozessor mit einer Taktung von 1,86 GHz ein. Aufsteigend geht es dann in die Intel-Core-i3-Serie, die ebenfalls im Einsteiger-Segment anzusiedeln ist. Für Business-Anwender bietet sich das Top-Modell der Reihe an, das über eine Intel Sony VGP-BPS2B Akku Core i5 430M-Zentraleinheit mit einem Prozessortakt d630 akku von 2,26 GHz verfügt. Sehr gut: Unabhängig von der gewählten CPU sind alle Notebooks der Reihe bereits serienmäßig mit 4.096 MB DDR3-Arbeitsspeicher ausgestattet. Auch die Festplatte bietet schon im Einsteigermodell eine Speicherkapazität von 320 GB und steigt PA3399U-1BAS dann mit der Prozessorleistung auf 500 GB bzw. 640 GB im Top-Modell.

Gutes Display

Die mobilen Rechner der ASUS K52-Serie werden mit einem 15,6 Zoll großen, glänzenden PA3399U-1BRS Display ausgeliefert. Der Bildschirm verfügt über eine akkuschonende LED-Hintergrundbeleuchtung und kann eine PA3451U-1BRS maximale Auflösung von 1.366 x 768 Bildpunkten darstellen. Nur ein Modell der Serie setzt auf die Shared-Memory-Lösung Intel Graphics Media Accelerator HD. Alle anderen werden mit einer NVIDIA GeForce G310M-Grafikkarte ausgestattet. Die bietet 512 MB dedizierten PA3450U-1BRS Grafikspeicher, eignet sich aber zum Spielen auch nur sehr bedingt. Immerhin: Für Büroarbeiten und Internet-Anwendungen leistet PA3465U-1BRS sie gute Dienste. Im stationären Einsatz lassen sich die ASUS K52-Notebooks über einen HDMI-Port hp nx7400 akku komfortabel mit einer externen Anzeige verbinden.

ASUS K50

In der K50-Serie bietet ASUS eine ganze Reihe von günstigen Einsteiger-Notebooks an. Preislich PA3457U-1BRS beginnt die Spanne nur knapp über der Preisgrenze für ein hochwertiges Netbook. Dafür akku hp nx7300 gibt es aber schon einen 15,6-Zoll-Bildschirm und eine gute Ausstattung

Viel Ausstattung

Gutes Display

Obwohl im Einstiegsbereich nur unwesentlich teurer als ein Netbook, bieten alle K50-Notebooks ein PA3480U-1BRS 15,6 Zoll großes Display, das eine maximale Auflösung von 1.366 x 768 Bildpunkten zur Anzeige bringt. In der Serie bietet PA3534U-1BRS ASUS verschiedene Grafikkarten an, die sich allerdings ausnahmslos nur für Office- und Internet-Anwendungen empfehlen. Für Freunde dell xps m1730 akku von 3D-Spielen sind die mobilen Rechner der K50-Serie nicht gemacht. Bestenfalls die NVIDIA GeForce GT 320 aus dem Top-Modell der Serie geht als Mittelklasse-Grafikkarte durch. Alle K50-Rechner verfügen über einen VGA-Port. Die hochwertigeren Modelle der Serie bieten zusätzlich einen PA3534U-1BRS HDMI-Ausgang.

Solide Leistung

In der K50-Serie setzt ASUS auf klassische Einsteiger-Prozessoren. Zum Einsatz kommen PA3593U-1BRS wahlweise Intel Pentium Dual Core T4300- und T4400-CPUs mit Taktraten von 2,1 bzw. 2,2 GHz oder eine AMD Athlon II Dual-Core PA3591U-1BRS M320-Zentraleinheit mit einem Takt von 2,1 GHz. Die Arbeitsspeicherausstattung beschränkt sich in den Einstiegsmodellen der Serie auf 2.048 bzw. 3.072 MB. Nur die Top-Geräte der Reihe bieten 4.096 MB DDR3-RAM. Ähnliches gilt für die Festplattenkapazität, die 320 GB beträgt und nur bei den teureren K50-Rechnern auf 500 GB steigt. Dafür gehört in allen Rechnern der Serie ein Multiformat-DVD-Brenner mit Double-Layer-Unterstützung zur PA3594U-1BRS Standard-Ausstattung.

ASUS K42

Das K42 von ASUS präsentiert sich durch seinen kompakten 14-Zoll-Bildschirm ultraportable. Satellite a200 akku Zugeständnisse an die Technik muss der Nutzer dafür aber nicht in Kauf nehmen. Das Notebook bietet einen zügigen Intel Core-Prozessor und viel Ausstattung.

Viel Leistung

Im Gehäuse des ASUS K42 arbeitet ein zügiger Intel Core i5 450M-Prozessor Akku HP 2133 mit einer Taktung von 2,4 GHz. Die Zweikern-CPU bewältigt speicherhungrige Prozesse mit Unterstützung der werksseitig im Notebook Akku Thinkpad X61 verbauten 4.096 MB Arbeitsspeicher. Auf maximal 8.192 MB lässt sich das DDR3-RAM nachträglich aufrüsten. Für die Speicherung des mitgelieferten Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit, Programmen und Daten steht eine SATA-Festplatte mit einem Fassungsvermögen von 500 GB zur Verfügung. Auch ein Multiformat-DVD-Brenner mit Double-Layer-Unterstützung hat seinen Weg ins Gehäuse des ultraportablen Rechners Akku Inspiron E1505 gefunden.

Kompaktes Display

Für den grafischen Vortrieb ist im ASUS K42 eine NVIDIA GeForce GT 335M-Grafikkarte Akku Inspiron 6400 mit einem zweckgebundenen Videospeicher von 1.024 MB zuständig, die leistungstechnisch in der gehobenen Mittelklasse Akku T410 anzusiedeln ist. Die Grafiklösung beliefert das 14 Zoll große Display des Rechners, auf dem sich eine maximale Auflösung von 1.366 x 768 Bildpunkten darstellen akku lässt. Eine HDMI-Schnittstelle ist im Gehäuse untergebracht, so dass sich Bild und Ton im stationären Einsatz in Akku M1530 bester digitaler Qualität auf eine externe Wiedergabe umleiten lassen.

Gute Ausstattung

Kabelgebundenen Anschluss nach außen bietet das ASUS K42 über drei USB 2.0-Schnittstellen akku oder – im Netzwerk – über einen schnellen 10/100/1000-Ethernet-Port. Das drahtlose Internet kann der Nutzer akku nach dem aktuell schnellsten Standard 802.11 b/g/n ansteuern. Eine Webcam, die mit einer Auflösung von 0,3 Megapixeln arbeitet und ein 3-in-1-Kartenlesegerät,akku das mit den Formaten MMC, SD Memory Card und akku Memory Stick klarkommt, runden das Ausstattungsangebot ab.

ASUS N73,ASUS N71,ASUS N61JV

Mit dem N73 erweitert ASUS sein Sortiment um ein weiteres Multimedia-Notebook. Technisch VGP-BPS13A/Q basiert der mobile Rechner auf der aktuellen Intel Core-Prozessor-Technologie. Damit die Multimedia-Eigenschaften nicht zu kurz VGP-BPS13/B kommen, sind ein großer Bildschirm, eine leistungsfähige Grafikkarte und ein HDMI-Anschluss an Bord.

Solide Leistung

Der im ASUS N73 eingesetzte Intel Core i3 370M-Prozessor gehört zur Einsteigerklasse der neuen Intel Core-Serie. Die Zweikern-CPU VGP-BPS13B/B legt einen Takt von 2,4 GHz vor und wird bei der Abarbeitung speicherhungriger Prozesse von 4.096 MB DDR3-Arbeitssepeicher unterstützt. Filme lassen sich über den verbauten Multiformat-DVD-Brenner mit Double-Layer-Unterstützung abspielen oder brennen. Reichlich Platz für eine größere Multimedia-Sammlung bietet auch VGP-BPS13B/Q die im Gehäuse verbaute SATA-Festplatte mit einem Fassungsvermögen von 640 GB.

Großes Display

Die ASUS-Entwickler haben dem N73 VGP-BPS13A/S einen 17,3 Zoll großen Bildschirm mit auf den Weg gegeben. Das Display hat eine glänzende Oberfläche, die für mehr Farbbrillanz sorgt, aber bei ungünstigen Lichtverhältnissen auch zu unerwünschten Spiegelungen führen kann. Die maximal darstellbare Auflösung liegt bei 1.600 x 900 Bildpunkten. VGP-BPS13/Q Stationär kann das Bildschirmsignal wahlweise über einen VGA-Anschluss oder – in besserer Qualität – über einen HDMI-Port nach außen geführt werden. Für die Pixelplatzierung ist eine NVIDIA GeForce GT 425M-Grafikkarte zuständig. Technisch ist die dem Mittelfeld zuzuordnen. Weniger anspruchsvolle Spiele Sony VGP-BPS13 bewältigt der Grafikchip problemlos. Erst bei sehr aktuellen 3D-Games müssen die Detailstufen runtergeregelt werden, um ein unerwünschtes Ruckeln zu verhindern.

Eingeschränkte Mobilität

Wie die meisten Multimedia-Notebooks ist auch das Sony VGP-BPS2 N73 kein Mobilitätswunder. In der Reisetasche fällt es mit einem Gewicht von 3,3 Kilo deutlich auf. Außerdem ist es mit einer Gehäusehöhe von 39 mm mit gerade kompakt in der Notebooktasche zu verstauen.

ASUS N71

Mit der N71-Serie präsentiert Asus gut ausgestattete Multimedia-Notebooks, die sich durch einen großen Bildschirm, eine schnelle Sony VGP-BPS2C Grafikkarte und eine solide technische Ausstattung empfehlen.

Flexible Leistung

Asus bietet die Modelle der N71-Reihe mit zwei unterschiedlichen Intel-Zweikern-Prozessoren Sony VGP-BPS2A an. Der Käufer hat dabei die Wahl zwischen einer Intel Core 2 Duo P7450-CPU mit einer Taktung von 2,13 GHz, drei MB L2-Cache und einem 1.066 MHz schnellen Frontsidebus und einem schnelleren Intel Core 2 Duo P8700-Prozessor, der eine Taktfrequenz von 2,53 GHz vorgibt und ebenfalls mit drei MB L2-Cache und einem Sony VGP-BPS9A/B 1.066 MHz schnellen Frontsidebus ausgestattet ist. Identisch ist bei beiden Modellen der Serie der Arbeitsspeicher, der aus 4.096 MB DDR3-1066-RAM besteht, die auf zwei Speichermodule verteilt sind. Die Festplatte hat im kleineren Modell eine Speicherkapazität Sony VGP-BPS9/S von 500 GB. Das größere N71-Modell bietet Speicherplatz für 640 GB. Beide Rechner sind mit einem 8-fach DVD-Multiformat-Brenner Sony VGP-BPS9/B mit Double-Layer-Unterstützung ausgestattet.

Großes Display

Als Display setzt Asus bei der N71-Reihe auf Sony VGP-BPS9 einen 17,3 Zoll großen HD+ 16:9 Glare Type-Bildschirm. Auf dem Display lassen sich 1.600 x 900 Bildpunkte darstellen. Als besonders energiesparend erweist sich dabei die verwendete LED-Hintergrundbeleuchtung. Für die Grafik ist in den Multimedia-Rechnern eine Nvidia GeForce GT 240M mit 1.024 MB zweckgebundenem VRAM zuständig. Externe Flachbild-Fernseher lassen sich über den HDMI-Anschluss der N71-Notebooks problemlos Dell latitude d820 akku ansteuern und mit bester Bild- und Ton-Qualität versorgen.

Beschränkte Mobilität

Das Gehäuse der N71-Notebooks misst 420 x 284 x 37/41 mm und macht die mobilen Dell latitude d630 akku Rechner recht groß für die Notebook-Tasche. Hinzu kommt ein Gewicht von ca. drei Kilo, das die Mobilität zusätzlich einschränkt.

ASUS N61JV

Mit dem Modell N61JV befriedigt ASUS die Dell latitude d620 akku anspruchsvollen Anforderungen der mobilen Entertainment-Anwender mit einem technisch besonders hochwertig ausgestatteten mobilen Rechner. Ein zügiger Intel Core i5-Prozessor und eine schnelle Grafiklösung bilden die Basis für beste Multimedia-Eigenschaften.

Starke Leistung

Kern des ASUS N61JV ist ein schneller Dell T114C akku Intel Core i5-430M-Prozessor, der über eine Taktfrequenz von 2,26 GHz verfügt und mit Turbo Dell latitude d610 akku Boost bis zu 2,53 GHz vorlegt. Die CPU verfügt außerdem über drei MB L3-Cache. Der Arbeitsspeicher des N61JV besteht aus 4.096 MB DDR3-1066-RAM, die auf zwei Speichermodule verteilt sind. Für die Speicherung von Daten steht eine SATA-Festplatte mit einer Speicherkapazität von 500 GB zur Verfügung. Als akku XPS m1330 optisches Laufwerk verbaut ASUS in der Multimedia-Maschine einen 8x Multiformat-DVD-Brenner mit Double-Layer-Unterstützung.

Viel Ausstattung

Die zahlreichen Anschlussmöglichkeiten machen den N61JV Dell U661H akku besonders flexibel einsetzbar. Zur Verfügung stehen eine Express Card-Schnittstelle, ein 8-in-1-Kartenlesegerät, zwei USB-2.0-Schnittstellen, ein schneller USB-3.0-Port, ein Kopfhörerausgang, ein Mikrofon und E-SATA. Ins Netzwerk geht es wahlweise kabelgebunden per LAN 10/100/1000 MBits oder drahtlos nach den Standards WLAN 802.11 b/g/n. Eine Webcam mit einer Auflösung von zwei Megapixeln bietet zudem eine einfache Dell N950C akku Möglichkeit, Videotelefonate per Skype, Windows Live Messenger & Co. zu akkus realisieren.

Gutes Display

ASUS stattet den N61JV mit einem 16 Zoll großen HD 16:9 Glare akku Type-Display aus. Dabei erweist sich die LED-Hintergrundbeleuchtung als besonders energiesparend. Das Display kann eine maximale Auflösung von 1.366 x 768 Bildpunkten darstellen. Für die Pixeljobs ist eine schnelle NVIDIA GeForce GT 325M-Grafikkarte akku mit 1.024 MB VRAM zuständig. Auch für stimmigen Sound zum Bild ist gesorgt: Dank der SonicMaster Audiotechnologie werden Lautstärke, Balance akku und Schallbereich genau aufeinander abgestimmt sowie umgebungsbedingte Beeinträchtigungen und Klangverzerrungen eliminiert, so dass eine fesselnde Akustik entsteht.

Test HP EliteBook 2540p Subnotebook Display

Die 12.1-Zoll (30.7 cm) WXGA-Anzeige des Elitebook 2540p löst mit 1.280 × 800 Bildpunkten sony akku (16:10) auf. Das eingesetzte Panel wurde entspiegelt. Im Gegensatz zu den üblichen HD Ready Auflösungen (1.366 x 768; 16:9) stellt das verwendete Format einen Zwischenschritt auf dem Weg zum 4:3 Seitenverhältnis dar.

Ein übersichtliches Arbeiten gestaltet sich wegen der VGP-BPS8 geringen Bildhöhe zum Teil schwierig. Große Excel Dokumente, Website-Backends oder Unternehmens-Software mit fixen Abmessungen stoßen mit nur 800 Pixeln Höhe schnell an ihre Grenzen. Ob das ein Kritikpunkt ist, das liegt aber im Ermessen des Anwenders. Viele Nutzer werden die WXGA-Auflösung einfach als ansprechend groß und nicht zu klein empfinden.

Für ein Arbeits-Subnotebook ist das Panel passabel aber nicht perfekt. Das Anti-Glare verhindert Reflexionen, aber der Schwarzwert von VGP-BPS8A 1.45 mit dem Kontrast von 139:1 sind sehr gering.

Eine Besonderheit der EliteBooks ist das Fehlen VGP-BPS9 von HDMI zu Gunsten von DisplayPort. Hier können wir externe Anzeigen mit bis zu 2.560 x 1.600 Pixeln anschließen. HDMI würde dasselbe ermöglichen, jedoch müsste HP für die Nutzung eine Lizenzgebühr abführen. DisplayPort-TFTs gibt es in 22-Zoll bereits ab 190 Euro.

Die Luminanz des 12.1-Zollers liegt mit durchschnittlich 195 cd/m² auf keinem hohen Standard. Perfekt helle Outdoor-Begleiter liegen bei VGP-BPS9A/B 230 bis 300 cd/m². Die Ausleuchtung ist mit 90 Prozent sehr gleichmäßig, der hellste Punkt misst 202 cd/m².

Die Helligkeit kann automatisch per Umgebungslichtsensor eingestellt werden. Der sitzt im VGP-BPS9/S unteren Rahmen des TFTs. Je nach Helligkeit im Raum regelt die Sensorik die Leuchtstärke der LEDs im Panel. Unter Sonnenlicht dreht das Hintergrundlicht auf Maximal. Bei Nacht regelt es sich bis fast auf 100 cd/m² herunter.

Grund für den Sensor ist das Energiesparen sowie die VGP-BPS10 Augenschonung. Weil das Hintergrundlicht mit 3 bis 5 Watt zu Buche schlägt, ergeben Sparmaßnahmen an dieser Stelle Sinn. Zudem ist ein zu helles TFT in einer dunklen Arbeitsumgebung eine Belastung für die Augen. Dem Nutzer wird das manuelle Nachstellen abgenommen. Für die Helligkeitsmessung war der Umgebungslichtsensor per Fn+F11 deaktiviert.

Anti-Glare, perfekt für Draußen? In der Tat ist die Entspiegelung eines Panels die erste und wichtigste Voraussetzung für entspanntes VGP-BPS13A/B Arbeiten unter Tageslicht. Wie wir den 2540p auch halten und wenden, keine Spiegelungen stören. Die nur durchschnittliche maximale Helligkeit von 195 cd/m² ist aber zu gering, um den Beifall der Redaktion zu erhalten. Nebenstehende Fotos zeigen das Displaypanel bei leichter Bewölkung. Bei frontalem akku Blick reicht die Luminanz aus, seitlich kann es schon deutlich abdunkeln. Steigt die Intensität der direkten Sonnenstrahlen an, so wird die Anzeige für das angenehme Arbeiten zu dunkel.

Stabile Blickwinkel stehen für hochwertige Notebook-Panels, denen bei seitlichem Blick auf die Anzeige VGP-BPS2 nicht gleich Helligkeit und Farben abhandenkommen. In dieser Disziplin schlägt sich der 2540p nur durchschnittlich. Der 12.1-Zoller hat die gleiche geringe Blickwinkelstabilität wie geschätzte 80 Prozent unserer Testnotebooks: Vertikal schlecht, horizontal ausreichend.

Wer von seitlich oder oben in die Anzeige schaut, der erlebt VGP-BPS2C massiv invertierte Farben und ein verdunkeltes Bild. Horizontal gibt es nur bis 45 Grad klare Farben. Danach invertieren selbige deutlich und die Helligkeit fällt deutlich ab. Von der Elite-Klasse der HP Business-Notebooks hatten wir uns etwas mehr versprochen. Die akku Farb-Stabilität eines Desktop-TFTs kann das EliteBook bei weitem nicht bieten.

HTC Droid Incredible

Motorola Droid owners now have a reason to be jealous. Verizon's third and arguably best vgp-bps8 Droid handset is the HTC Droid Incredible, an Android 2.1 powered device with an updated version of HTC's Sense interface. The Incredible sports a sleek black-and-red design, an optical trackpad in lieu of a trackball, and a brilliant, 3.7-inch 480 x 800 AMOLED capacitive touchscreen. If that isn't enough, the Incredible comes with a 1-GHz Snapdragon processor, a sharp 8-MP camera, vgp-bps8a and tethering capabilities right out of the box (take that, iPhone). While we have some complaints, and the $199 price will be too steep for some, overall the Incredible is one sweet smart phone. laptop

Design

The Incredible is a gorgeous, black phone with red accents (signifying its ties to Verizon). It measures 4.6 x 2.3 x 0.5 inches, making it quite pocketable and thin, and it weighs 4.6 ounces. That's significantly lighter than the Motorola Droid (6 ounces) but the same weight as the GSM version of thevgp-bpl8. It felt light enough that we sometimes didn't notice it in our pocket. Up top you'll find a 3.5mm headset jack and the power button, which serves as a sleep/wake button when the phone is turned on. The right side of the device is clean and devoid of any buttons, the left houses a micro-USB port and a volume rocker.vgp-bps9,vgp-bps9/s,vgp-bps9/b,vgp-bps9a/b

When you flip the Incredible over and look at the back, things start to look busy. There is a large, red 8MP camera with a dual LED flash sitting on a backplate with an odd, terraced design that looks like a topographical vgp-bps13. We wondered whether the ridges and raises were just an arbitrary design feature, but when you remove the HTC emblazoned battery cover, you'll find that they're there because of the phone's internals. You'll also be hit with more red than you've ever seen on a device as both the inside PA3451U-1BRS Battery and the battery are a very bright red. You'll either love it or hate it.vgp-bps13a/b

The face of the phone features a 3.7-inch, 480 x 800 WVGA AMOLED Dell batterycapacitive touchscreen display. Below the screen are the typical Android home, menu, back, and search touch buttons, all of which haptic feedback. The most noticeable design change versus the Nexus One is that PA3478U-1BRS Battery has abandoned a trackball in favor of an optical trackpad. The optical trackpad works well for swiping through screens, icons, and general navigation. When you want to select an item, you just press down on it like you would a trackball. We did find the trackpad to be a little too recessed; also, it felt awkward to PA3450U-1BRS Battery across it because we could feel the edges around the trackpad. Sometimes it wouldn't register our gestures.

Display

While notebook may prefer the huge 4.3-inch display on the HD2, the Incredible has plenty of real estate for surfing the Web PA3399U-2BAS Batteryand running the latest Android Apps, as well as plenty of resolution (800 x 480). Plus, even though the Toshiba Notebook Battery Incredible has the same screen size and resolution screen as the Nexus One, when compared side-by-side the Incredible seems to be richer in color and contrast. The auto-brightness function worked well during most lighting condition changes, and it's also easy to see the screen in bright sunlight (though direct sunlight causes too much glare). The capacitive touchscreen is also very Sony battery and supports multitouch gestures in the browser, maps, and even on the home screen with the Leap feature which we'll get to later. On-Screen Keyboard

One thing PA3534U-1BRS Battery we can get really picky about are soft keyboards.PA3435U-1BRS Battery It's really hard to duplicate the accuracy and speed of the iPhone's layout, but the Incredible comes really close. The auto-correct feature was fairly accurate and helped us save time, although we found that the space bar occasionally didn't register our input--a problem we've had with other Android handsets. Overall, typing on the Incredible keyboard was a pleasant enough experience that we had no problem texting or e-mailing our friends and colleagues regularly. Yes, some may prefer the Droid's physical keyboard, but that flat layout is one of the few things we don't like about Motorola's handset.

Report Sony VAIO W Series Eco Edition

It’s green, but does it cost too much green? With the VAIO W Eco Edition Sony vgp-bps9 seeks to stand out with a design that’s partially made of reprocessed plastic from CDs, as well as a carrying case made of recycled PET bottles. The keyboard, at 86 percent of full size, feels somewhat cramped. And while we like the HD display and the bundled Kidzui browser that’s designed to keep kids safe, parents may think twice about paying an $80 premium (or more) over competing netbooks for Sony’s latest mini-notebook. The $480 VAIO W Eco Edition offers style, eco-friendliness, good performance, and a robust software bundle, but it’s not the best value. Read on to see how this netbook vgp-bps9/s stacks up to the competition.

Design

The rounded edges of the 10.5 x 7.1 x 2.0-inch Sony VAIO W remind us of the Samsung N130’s pebble-like design. The white, vgp-bps9/b matte lid eschews fingerprints and includes a large but tasteful embedded chrome VAIO logo. This color allowed every mark to be immediately apparent, and we wished for something a bit darker to hide scuff marks. Sony offers two other color choices for the non-Eco Edition, but environmentalists will have to live with Sugar White for now. Under the lid, the deck has a dimpled pattern and a tasteful sea green color that meshed well with the silver metallic keyboard. We also like the green interlocking loop pattern on the silver touchpad. vgp-bps8a



The six-cell battery juts out from the bottom of the VAIO W a full three quarters of an inch, which gives the netbook a useful forward incline but also a noticeable thickness in the back. Though it’s not as svelte as some of our favorite netbooks of  vgp-bps9a/b , it weighs the standard 2.8 pounds.

Greenness

As vgp-bps8 implies, the VAIO W Eco Edition has a few more environmentally friendly aspects than most netbooks. The chassis is made from 20 percent recycled CDs. There’s no cardboard packaging to throw out when you buy this netbook—it comes in a carrying case made from recycled PET bottles. However, we would have liked to see the green theme extended to the software package, with Sony battery making it easy for users to monitor and adjust how much energy the VAIO W uses (similar to Toshiba’s eco Utility).



Charging the battery after it was fully drained took 3 hours and 45 minutes. During this time the VAIO W used an average of 31.3 watts. Owing to its relatively short battery life (6:42), this netbook’s LAPTOP Battery Efficiency Rating was 17.5. While that score is equal to the category average, it’s worse than most other Pine Trail netbooks we’ve tested. The dell laptopbattery, for example, has an Efficiency Rating of 10.4. Still, the VAIO W boasts an EPEAT Gold rating of 21 out of 27, which is quite good.

Heat

The VAIO W kept its cool during our heat test. After streaming a Hulu video for 15 minutes, we measured the temperature on the touchpad at 82 degrees Fahrenheit; the vgp-bps12 space between the G and H keys reached 87 degrees; and the middle of the underside rose to 96 degrees. Though the underside’s temperature is right at the cusp of our “acceptable” threshold (below 100 degrees), we were never uncomfortable using the VAIO W on our lap.

Review Dell Inspiron Mini 10 (T-Mobile)

T-Mobile is very late to the 3G netbook party, but its first entry is the cheapest you’ll find on any network for vgp-bps9  sony vgp-bps9 in terms of total cost of ownership. How much cheaper? The data plan for the vgp-bps9a/b,sony vgp-bps9a/b with T-Mobile webConnect ($199 with two-year contract) costs $40 per month for 5GB. That’s $20 less than what AT&T and Verizon Wireless charge, or $480 less over the length of the contract. For those scoring at home, that’s nearly enough for a Wi-Fi-only iPad. Even better, this mini-laptop delivers considerably faster mobile broadband than other 3G netbooks, especially in areas where the carrier has fully upgraded its network to HSPA 7.2. So what’s the catch? You’re still paying $1,159 over two years for a secondary PC with a relatively small 10-inch screen. And sony vgp-bps9/s battery’s touchpad leaves much to be desired. So is this 3G netbook a good deal or should you pass? 

Design 

 With the sony battery of the little T-Mobile webConnect sticker below the keyboard, the 3-pound Mini 10 looks identical to the more recent models we’ve already reviewed. And that’s mostly a good thing. We like the sleek, wedge-shaped design and the glossy white border on the sides. The lid and bezel are glossy black, but thankfully the area around the keyboard has a textured finish that resists fingerprints.vgp-bps9/b,sony vgp-bps9/b



The keyboard of  vgp-bps12provided good tactile feedback and zero flex. We also like the direct access keys which let you adjust the volume and brightness without pressing Fn first. However, we pretty much despise the touchpad. It integrates the mousepad buttons, xps m1530 battery are stiff, making an otherwise nice machine difficult to use. We also found it harder to select text and to scroll on this netbook than others we’ve tested. It gets worse. Because the touchpad is close to the front lip of the netbook, you have to be careful not to accidentally brush against it when typing so you don’t move the cursor. Sharing laptop battery knowledge

It is my pleasure bringing to you Battery

Cadex laboratories; other knowledge was gathered by simply talking to diverse
groups of battery users. Not all views and opinions expressed in the book are

who use batteries. Some difference of opinion with the reader cannot be avoided.
