Motorola announces Wi-Fi Xoom release date for Canada

While the Xoom has already launched here in the States with the Wi-Fi only model coming later this month, Motorola has now announced the availability of the Wi-Fi only model for Canada. Prospective buyers can expect to get their hands on the tablet starting April 6th for around $600 CAD (=$614 US / 432 €). Electronics stores Future Shop vgp-bps13as and Best Buy are already taking pre-orders for the device online.

Unfortunately for Canada, Motorola has yet to officially release the 3G version of the Xoom for the country. Whereas the 3G model was released first before the Wi-Fi model in the U.S., it appears the order will be in reverse for Canada. The mobile network Telus is expected to be the carrier for the Xoom when the 3G tablet releases sometime mid 2011.

The Motorola Xoom is a 10.1-inch tablet with a dual-core Nvidia Tegra 2 processor, 1GB of RAM VGP-BPS13B/S and Android 3.0. The device has since been updated with Adobe Flash 10.2 and LTE support.

Dell Alienware M11x R3 details leak

Right off the heels of the recent Alienware m14x VGP-BPS10/B and m18x rumors come even more rumors about the existing Alienware m11x laptop. These new leaks suggest that a 2011 revision for the 11.6-inch laptop could be coming soon, complete with Sandy Bridge processors and even 3G or 4G broadband support.

According to PCWorld, the new m11x R3 could be sporting an overclockable Core i5-2537M, Core i7-2617M, or a Core i7-2657M Ultra Low Voltage processor. In comparison, the current m11x R2 model supports either a Core i5-520UM or Core i7-640UM, while the older R1 laptop uses a now relatively outdated Core 2 Duo processor. Other specifications, such as the RAM, will be upgraded to 1333MHz from 800MHz, but resolution VGP-BPS10A and HDD options are expected to remain the same as before at 1366x768 pixels and up to 750GB.

Beyond the Sandy Bridge processors VGP-BPS10A/B and mobile broadband support, however, there was no mention of what discrete graphics the new revision would take advantage of. Previous models all relied on the mid-range Nvidia Geforce 335M for gaming purposes VGP-BPS10/S and integrated Intel HD graphics for extended battery life. If Dell intends to market the new model for hardcore gamers on the go, we expect the graphics card to be updated to the more recent Geforce 500M series or possibly an AMD Radeon solution. The m11x series has always been known for packing one of the most powerful graphics in a sub 12-inch notebook, so hopefully Dell will continue with this tradition in the latest revision.
